If you've never worn vintage or retro before, start off small. Maybe you could start off wearing a piece of jewellery, a hat, handbag or a belt.
Don't dress head to toe in vintage or you may end up looking like you're heading to a fancy dress party.
You may wish to have your core piece of wardrobe as vintage (ie. dress) and mix that with modern shoes, bags and jewellery. Or you may chose to mix a modern core piece such as jeans, jacket and t-shirts with a vintage piece like a blouse, jacket or bag.
Either way you will keep your look modern instead of looking like you stepped out of a time machine.
Be open minded, everything looks different on. Vintage clothes are made and cut very differently to modern clothes, and are often very flattering.
Also, stay true to your style or you won't feel comfortable.
